News from the School Association
From The Principal
We are halfway through the term and 2025 is looming! It seems like I write this in each and every newsletter, but the days and weeks fly past at such a rate, it’s sometimes difficult to comprehend. This term has been a very busy and productive one as usual.
2025 class placements
I would like to thank parents and carers for forwarding information on class and friendship preferences, recognising that we may not be able to accommodate all requests but appreciate your insights and input. It is an enormous task setting up classes and teachers for the following year, a task that takes the best part of at least a term and a half from the start date to align all the moving parts and ensure timetables etc are viable. We fully appreciate your support with this enormous, yet important process and you will be informed of the outcome later in the term.
Transition visits
Students in year 6 are fully in the swing of undertaking transition visits to their new schools for 2025. We thank all staff for supporting this important activity in our calendar. We know that these visits are designed to set students up for success in their new schools.
Swimming carnivals
Numerous students have participated in carnivals with LNPS students demonstrating great sportsperson like behaviour and our school Values. The Champion’s Carnival is on 26 November, and we look forward to hearing more about this after the event. Well done to all students and officials for making these great events possible.
Band concert
The upcoming Band Concert is on 22 November at My State Bank Arena. Once again, this promises to be a great night, showcasing the amazing talents of our LNPS students and many others. We look forward to hearing and enjoying the music of so many capable young Tasmanians.
Assemblies
Last Friday we experienced a real treat in our assembly. Along with the many certificates, awards and hard work that was celebrated, the audience were able to see and hear those students who are involved in our band. The students demonstrated poise, skill and the audience appreciated their incredible talent. Thanks goes to our band teacher Josie Dwyer for her work with students. It was a pleasure to hear and a very proud moment for students, staff, parents and the entire school community. Well done everyone. Our next assembly is on Friday 22 November at 9.40am and we look forward to seeing everyone there.
End of year functions
There are many functions occurring in and around the school during December. I would like to encourage you to check our Facebook page, Schoolzine and SeeSaw to ensure you remain across all of those important dates.
School Association
Our School Association is a small group of enthusiastic and dedicated group of people who regularly make a significant contribution to our great school. Some of the current Office Bearers are finishing their tenure at the end of 2024, and we are keen to recruit anyone who would like to volunteer their time, voice, ideas while making a positive contribution to the important work of the school community.

Term 4 - Hats and Sunscreen
Hats are required this term for all outdoor activities and breaks. Students are required to wear broad rimmed hats; not caps. Hats can be purchased from our uniform supplier, Lowes at Eastlands, or via Qkr! or in person at our school office for $17.95. Bucket hats are reversible with house colours and available in a range of sizes.
Each classroom has been supplied with sunscreen which students will be encouraged to apply before going outdoors. Students are also welcome to bring their own named sunscreen to school instead, if they prefer an alternate brand or are sensitive to the brand located in classrooms. Please see the ingredients listing below.
Thank you to Terry White Chemmart Lindisfarne for the donation of sunscreen to all classrooms. Please support this business for supporting us.
Levies
Thank you to families who have finalised their levy payments for 2024. If you haven’t already completed payment, it would be appreciated if levies could be paid as soon as possible. If you are experiencing financial difficulty or financial hardship and unable to make payment please contact Brenda McLarin, School Business Manager.
Kinder - Year 2 Athletics Carnival
Thank you for your donations
Thank you to our wonderful school community for your very generous donations to Hobart City Mission (HCM). HCM helps people facing hardship and homelessness. They have been serving the people of Southern Tasmania for 172 years.
Thanks to you all, our school was able to donate a large amount of goods to the Emergency Relief program. This program assists people in our Southern Tasmanian community who are in immediate short-term crisis situations. Em from Hobart City Mission came to our school and personally collected all the items. She was incredibly grateful to our school community.
2025 Planning
Kindergarten 2025
We are in the process of finalising enrolments for Kindergarten students (born in 2020). You will be notified of your child's class placement shortly. Kindergarten will be held in 2025 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8:55am - 2:45pm.
If you are yet to enrol your child for next year, please provide the enrolment form and associated documentation to the school office as soon as possible. We are unable to accept out of area enrolments.
Step Up to 2025 Classes
Students will have the opportunity to visit their 2025 classroom and teacher on Step Up Morning - Monday 16 December 2024 at 10:20am - 11:00am. Current Year 6 students and students not returning in 2025 will be provided with an alternate activity.
Car Parking
Staff from the Tasmanian Archives have mentioned that there has been an increase of parents parking in their allocated parking area and at the top of the school on the lawn during drop off and pick up times. Parking on the Archives property is not allowed.
Please use the visitor's car park at the front of the school building.
Pink Day!
Year 3/4 Writing and Poetry
Students in grades 3/4 CW and 3/4 SW were asked to write a story about a piece of waste. They were to consider their excursion learning. They needed to look at where it came from and where it will end up.
Grade 3/4 SW have been looking at and creating different types of Poetry. The following two poems are Acrostic Poems about Spring.
